JAN BORNSTEIN is a registered nurse, with degrees in psychology from Bridgewater State College and nursing from UMass Boston. Jan was a musician and singer in her younger days and enjoyed a brief stint as a manager for a local rock band. She has enjoyed her career in home care nursing for almost 20 years. She granted herself a hiatus from a busy career in home nursing care management to indulge her inner writer.

“When I was in college, I had to take a required creative writing course for English. The instructor, a writer himself, was far more critical than other instructors I’d had previously. He assured me I should never think about being a writer. A few years later, deeply moved by the death of a close friend , I found myself trying to write, but quickly discovered that I was too close to the emotions of the event to be able to complete what I’d set out to do. I put the project aside, thinking I’d go back to it in time, but to this day it still sits in my closet.”

“The unfinished book, as well as the opinion of that instructor, weighed heavily on me when I started writing what has evolved into The Song Trilogy, but I found myself getting swept along in this bittersweet Rock n’ Roll romance, and thinking gratefully that maybe my old professor didn’t know so much after all.”

Jan Bornstein currently makes her home south of Boston.
